Pros

Work Life balance. CGI Federal is not like other consulting firms and offers a very flexible work schedule which is the only reason I am still working at this company.

Cons

--It's very hard to find a good manager at CGI Federal. The senior management hammers project managers so hard about hitting their numbers that the people who are actually doing the grunt work are ignored and forgotten about. --Promotions are ridiculous and all about whos rear-end you can kiss. People who have been working here for 5+ years are still consultants whereas a person working for 2 years who started as a college hire is promoted to Sr. Consultant. It's almost a joke. --In order to get promoted, they will tell you that you need to do X, Y, and Z. So then X, Y and Z come along and they will not let you do them hence holding you back from your career growth. It's all about the money at this place.

Pros

Inclusive workplace; great benefits; supportive of personal and professional growth; decent compensation for the area; - especially given the benefits; great leadership; strong culture and values.

Cons

Can be ups and downs if you are in a more volatile area of work which has contracts come and go. AI has increased that volatility across the industry and CGI hasn’t been immune. Individuals experience can vary by manager, but it’s a very good company.

Pros

The team for whom I worked was great. One of the best.

Cons

Other teams not so much. Herding cats and you end up taking over on an IMC call for something not even in your sphere. I feel they blacklist employees they RIF. I had a great Director try to get me in with other BUs and nothing. He tried again and again. Others who got RIF'd told me the same. Not good. Also, seems people look over their shoulders looking for the Grim Reaper. Not a good way to be. And the higher ups that are in charge of client retention seem to not be the ones on the firing line, only the consultants that did great work for the clients who decide to leave. HR who is supposed to help get another job within the company are worthless. They want you to do all the work. Also, CGI is so big teams only know what they know. Learning other teams' stuff seems to be frowned upon. How can you move around? This login makes you stuck.
