Worst company I've worked for (but it was close) - Senior Software Engineer Avaya Employee Review

Pros

My startup was bought by Avaya and we were able to stay together. Salary wasn't the worst I've been paid, but zero raises is abhorrent. Work life balance on my team was good, but I heard a lot of horror stories from other teams.

Cons

They have had layoffs every single quarter since 2021. Leadership is a disaster and is constantly changing, as they did a reorg at least once a year since 2020—they bought companies for offerings that we already had and were better than those companies' solutions. No one on my team got a raise in four years or yearly bonuses. I don't know anyone who was promoted in my several years there. The communication between teams is the worst I've ever seen at a company. They hired the lowest bidder at every opportunity. They removed holidays, giving us less time off. The pay was significantly lower than the industry standard. They laid off over half of their North American workforce right before the winter holidays. And I could go on, but that's enough to drive home the point.

Pros

The company used to care about customers, but they removed all the sales people who actually visited and consulted with customers to save travel cost.

Cons

The company's newest CEO, Patrick, only cares about getting back to a Cybersecurity company as fast as possible. Can't sell the company fast enough, but buyers can't get past due diligence periods.
