Pros

Ability to work remotely and they were able to strike a good work/life balance

Cons

Disorganization- project due dates were routinely missed, requests were ignored, follow ups did not take place, and extremely difficult to contact a relevant HR contact for specific requests Lack of promotion- I was told to write up a job description for a new role that I would be promoted to at the end of the year. I wrote up the description and sent it to my manager. I followed up on it 7 times and was bounced back and forth between HR and management. I ultimately gave up when no action had taken place over the course of many months. Recognition- In addition to the issues with promotion, employees are frequently not recognized for the good work they do. HSA- After I left Alight, I tried to access my HSA funds, which should stay with you even after you leave a company, and was unable to use them. When I contacted Alight, they told me that a 3rd party vendor will be handling my HSA funds (which I was not informed of upon my departure). I contacted the company and was told that I could not access the funds until Alight populates a termination date on their end. If they do not populate a date, I won't be able to use my remaining funds. Colleagues- coworkers would routinely ignore emails and requests. Due to the virtual nature of the company, many colleagues were extremely rude over email and IM. It's very easy to do this virtually behind a computer screen. Leadership- As my time with Alight continued, I gained additional bosses. I started with just 2 but I had 5 by the time I left. I had to receive approval from all 5 any time I submitted a project. Also, my projects were frequently not reviewed by management. As this continued, I felt that my work had little to no impact on the company. In addition to this, any ideas I had for how to improve processes were promptly ignored. Alight definitely does not foster an entrepreneurial spirit. Technology- There were frequent technology issues with VPN, Skype, and other internal dashboards that often made work impossible. The company went through multiple Chief Technology Officers during my tenure. I like to consider myself a good and hard working employee who tries to show up everyday with a positive attitude. However, Alight had really begun to wear me down and I needed to get out.
