Pros

1. Consistent hours for your shift. 2. Store discount, if you are into buying things from Academy (do know the exact percentage but I never used it).

Cons

1. Ridiculous amount of hours during peak seasons. 49 - 50 hours a week to be exact. Even when out of peak season, production isn’t constantly reviewed so overtime may or may not run all year. Production now is super slow due to the current state of the economy. 2. Inappropriate management staff - From team leads on their phones while riding on power equipment to some inquiring and probing about your sexuality. From being in many management positions it’s not only concerning but distasteful. 3. Policies and procedures only exist at the whim of the manager. For example, when I first started I was advised that we will need to put our vacation time in 24 hours in advance to be review by the manager as they have the check the system for staffing needs. My last manager no only ignored my request 2 different occasions when they were place almost 2 weeks in advance, he then states to the team, “make sure you spread to me first before putting in time.” 4. The caliber of team members hired are very low. In my time of 7 months I’ve seen more than 50 people come and go. Most fired, with very few being able to leave on their own terms. 5. Lack of accountability - no one is consistently checking the outflow to make sure things are done correctly instead they want you to hunt them down or they will pop up if it’s really impacting them. No one cares about the quality of work which creates time for drama and negatively impact the company being able to consistently keep up with demand hence the overtime. I’ve never had that issue because every job I take I’m always one of many experts. 6. No room for growth. Managers choose who they want for a promotion within normally someone who they have befriended or sucked up to, when it should primarily be about who deserves it most. I applied for at least 5 positions in which I only got a response for one when I had already decide I couldn’t do it anymore. 7. Pay is awful in comparison to other distribution centers. Performance Pay which is additional doesn’t work consistently across every department and isn’t awarded fairly.

Pros

The customers there were wonderful to talk to

Cons

Had to quit due to team leads aggressive attitude towards me. Also favoritism issues. I can tell they didn't like me since day 1. Today they came to me rudely about mistakes I made instead of doing it professionally. I haven't been there for long and I was still learning. I made a lot of improvements which I was really happy about, but was still learning. As much as I liked working there, the team lead was very rude/unprofessional towards me and it was so bad to the point I had to leave. The same team lead followed me outside and said "good" that I was leaving (in front of customers too). I was improving a lot in the position, I want to hear constructive criticism, but not like this. I was hoping to grow with the store and the company but unfortunately its not meant to be. This could've been 100% been prevented if only they would came to me professionally about this and I would be more than happy to fix any mistakes and do better in the future. But if this is how they treat their coworkers I do not wish to be a part of that toxic culture and headspace. Do better.
