Pros
You get to sell a lot of really cool products! Customer interactions are pretty fun for retail. Very easy job for retail. They work with you on a flex schedule. Most management is easy going and lets the workers work without micro-management. 20% employee discount and 6% 401K match.
Cons
They love to hire 19 year old kids at a low wage and quickly promote them to Team Lead +$1 and then Senior Team Lead (+1.50). The problem is you have incompetent leaders making ~$10 per hour in order for the store to keep payroll costs down. College degree doesn't mean anything. They arbitrarily cut wage employee hours after bragging about the millions a particular store makes. Raises are low 10 cents - 25 cents. The most knowledgeable people in the store are the plain ol' associates who have been there longer than the Team Leads. Employee turnover is high. A lot of small cliques within each store. It is a lot like a high school atmosphere. An inept store director or department manager can do a lot of damage to working processes. Management allows hostile work environments to thrive long-term right under their noses. There is a lot of gossip within a couple days you know which manager is sleeping with which employee.
