Pros

-Flexible with scheduling -Easy going co-workers and management -Encouraged to cross train in other departments -Great pay (I was asked what my pay range was when I was called to schedule an interview. I was nervous and said "$8.25-$8.75". I was awarded with $8.75.) -They offered to transfer me to a nearby store when I informed them I would be turning in my 2 week notice (I was returning to college and couldn't afford gas traveling 20 minutes to and from college and also to and from work). The only downside was that the nearby store is the same distance as the store I used to work at. -They run on a point system to determine when to fire you (it's really hard to get fired unless you really screw up): --Tardy/Early Exit (more than 7 minutes): 2 points; Absence: 4 points; No Call/No Show: 8 points ---8 points: Verbal Warning; 16 points: Written Warning; 20 points: Final Warning; 24 points: Termination

Cons

-You only get one company shirt. Either take care of it or order more (there are certain days when you can or cannot order). -Have to wait 90 days before you're eligible for full-time status. -Orientation wasn't until 2 weeks after I first started on the sales floor. I broke several rules I wasn't aware of. -No breaks if you work 6 or less hours -Hour long lunches (no 15-minute breaks) -"Primetime". From 11am - 1pm, no projects can be worked on, you can't take you lunch, you can't work on your section. You have to stay in the racetrack and greet (even if there are virtually no customers in the store). Unless you have customers in your section, then you can walk over and see if they need any help. Otherwise, back to the racetrack you go. (I got chewed at by a new Team Lead because I was standing around "with my hands in my pockets." Kind of hard to when my hands behind my back. <-- That part happened with just 3 days left in my 2 week notice.) --"Primetime" is incredibly painful if you come in at 7am or 8am (I came in at 8am a few times) because you can't take your lunch until 1pm. -Co-workers slacked off and would disappear when I show up. I wouldn't know where they went when I needed help. -The nearest computer to look up a product for a guest is almost on the other side of the store in Men's apparel. -There are no walkie talkies. Only "cell" phones. This means if you need to get a hold of someone, you have to go over the intercom on your phone (the store's phone) and say "[Person's name/Department name], call [this number]." Then the waiting game starts.

Pros

The easiest thing about job is the work itself.

Cons

The upper management is horrible on every level. They don’t care enough to even give job interviews, so you don’t know what to expect on your first day. Expect someone to not train you, but aggressively micromanage you and let you know what you do is wrong but not show how to do anything correctly. I’ve never seen a retail place operate so “by the books” but will make up rules on the spot when it’s most convenient for them. There is a severe lack of communication and care all around, partly from a lot of the managers being on different parts of the spectrum. The senior employees will also take out their home life problems out on you bc they’re jealous you got more credit card applications than them. Don’t work here unless you enjoy high school petty drama from ladies that have worked 30+ years in retail.
