Purpose & Strategy

Pros

Super structured strategy, planning and business process. Very clear line of decision and proximity to the decision makers. Good balance between centralized strategy and local autonomy level, since the businesses have different specifications from country to country.

Cons

May loose some of the local autonomy, since the group is trying to integrate/centralize a lot of activities. Not an issue, for the moment, though. More difficult to escalate on the global structures if you are not a french speaker (even though the oficial language is the english).

Toxic work environment (Belgium)

Pros

- Some colleagues were friendly and helpful. - Okay benefits and a solid product portfolio.

Cons

- Lack of communication - Toxic culture: employees are treated like numbers, not people. Management is rude and disconnected. I had a manager that yelled at his employees. - Suffocating micromanagement: despite the lack of real support, there was excessive control over minor details. Instead of empowering employees, management focused on nitpicking small tasks while failing to provide strategic guidance. The result? A frustrating and demotivating work environment. - Poor management support: when I faced challenges and stress (that they caused) at work, there was little to no support from my direct manager. After being replaced, my new manager barely engaged. - Unclear performance expectations: my dismissal was justified based on underperformance, but criteria seemed inconsistent. Decisions seem arbitrary. - Company culture: despite having a well known brand, there’s a disconnect between leadership and employees. Decisions seem driven by numbers rather than people. Employee satisfaction is low and turnovers are high.
