DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!

Pros

The ability to "make your own schedule" company car Plenty of time off (when your allowed to use it)

Cons

When making "your own schedule" there are VERY VERY VERY strict parameters that you have to make them in, which leaves you barely any room to actually set it the way you want it. You have both the least amount of communication possible and more "super important" emails and conference calls than the President of the US I took the territory that I was assigned from the worst in the district to the best in sales in the first full quarter that I had the position, and not just first, but so far beyond the closest rep behind me it was almost embarrassing for him, but no matter what, you will NEVER get any kind of gratitude. All I ever hear is how bad our district is compared to others in the country and how no matter how hard we all work, we somehow have to get even more in during the same work day but arent even allowed to think about getting OT. FORGET ABOUT PROMOTIONS!!! the only way to get promoted is if one of two things happen... Your DM gets promoted OR you are willing to move hundreds if not Thousands of miles away to stay with a company that doesnt appreciate you in the slightest anyway. This position is beyond tedious... its just plain hard. You are pulled 10 different ways at once everyday, and they make it hard to get everything done each month as it is, but to make things worse, your manager will let you know in a hurry that if you miss a single store or visit in a month then they will ABSOLUTELY fire you. I was brought to Ecolab from another company with the promises of being home with my family more that I was with my old company and with a higher pay. When I was hired and finished my training, I found out that not only will I have signifigantly less time with my wife and son, but I would also have several overnight trips per month, and as far as the pay goes, my pay increased by $500 whopping dollars PER YEAR! Typically you will have a couple days in the month that are wide open, this leaves you time to drive all over gods green earth to fix "Extra Service Requests" for your customers that are inevitably going to happen. We call these ESR's. When you get an ESR, you are expected to be able to completely change your schedule and be at the store to fix their issue within 24-48 hours, and that doesnt seem like its too bad until you realize that you have to drive 2-3 hours to get to the store where the issue is and there arent any other stores that you can walk to make a full day out of an ESR. With this I feel as if I should inform you of the way your time card works... Your day doesnt start until you are actually at your first visit and it ends once you leave you last visit. This means that counting ddrive time to and from most of my stores, I am sometimes on the road to my first store at 4am just to get there in time, this ends my day around 4pm but then I still have the 3 hour drive back home All this company is doing, is working all of their employees into the ground and making them squeeze every last penny out of their customers. They WILL PROMISE YOU THE WORLD... but their words are deceptive. THIS JOB IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME I CANT GET AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY FAST ENOUGH!!!

Pros

Company van, benefits, company stock plan, RRSP match plan, experience looks great on the resume.

Cons

Don't be fooled by the long list of benefits that this company offers. Joining this company as a TR amounts to what is essentially indentured servitude. If there was a way to give this company an even lower score then I have I would. I seriously wish that I had taken heed of the other negative reviews that I have seen before jumping on to this ship. This job will ruin your life. You will quickly find yourself working 12-15 hour days just to keep your head above water, this translates to $10.76-$13.46/hr. If you somehow manage to accomplish the insurmountable amount of work you will be rewarded by being up rooted and sent to another territory. The amount of customers that we are expected to deal with coupled with the massive territories we are responsible for is completely ridiculous . Its ok though you can stay in a hotel and the company will pick up the tab. Of course you will have to apply the charges to your personal credit card and Accounts Payable will make every effort possible to drag their feet in cutting you a check all of this after you have had to hound your manager to approve your expenses in the first place. A point which brings me to the management, I'm truly baffled at the level of incompetence that has been displayed on the management level. My DM is nearly unreachable, if you ever need help you would have better luck just sending emails and voice messages straight into a black hole because the result you will get is the same, no response. Don't worry you will hear from the DM from time to time but usually only once there is a major issue and it will simply be a ham-fisted attempt to cover his own back side, if it happens to help you in the process then great. Corporate Accounts only function seems to be to torment everyone that does not work in corporate accounts. Spite driven interdepartmental politics will result in you getting tossed under the bus because it is guaranteed that you will get in the middle of of some high level posturing and it seems to be accepted practice for everyone to us the TR's as human shields. Finally this job is advertised as a sales job with some service. This is false advertising in every sense of the term. You had better get accustomed to getting your hands dirty because you will be a service person dressed like a sale person. I suggest that you don't wear anything that you don't want ruined.

Pros

The company is truly driven by it's mission to make the world a better place. All of my teams have been collaborative. My managers challenge me to improve and develop my capabilities. They also understand my obligations outside of work which is beneficial when last minute needs come up.

Cons

It is a large organization and you can get lost in the noise if you don't take charge and drive your career.
