Pros

The opportunity for learning is solid. A variety of projects and clients are available at least in my line of work. The company is flexible with respect to career paths as well as providing flexibility for your personal life.

Cons

It seems that office politics are pervasive. Sometimes people make irrational and biased decisions that negatively effect others.

Pros

Looks great on a resume, and provides great, on-the-job experience in the accounting industry. Combination of training, exposure, and growth is unrivaled in the accounting industry. When applying for jobs outside the firm, you receive instant recognition.

Cons

Long hours. Minimal to no compensation for working these long hours. Though busy season is advertised as three months in the winter, should you be placed on a public client, or client with a 6/30 or 9/30 year end, expect additional work load comprable to the winter busy season. From a staff's perspective, the hourly grind even appears to increase as you rise in the ranks.
