Corrupt New Leadership

Pros

ETS was once a wonderful place to work with an inspirational goal of making educational assessments accessible to all. The people who work there are bright, knowledgeable and friendly.

Cons

New leadership, including the entire C-suite as well as some GMs and VPs have corrupted the mission in favor of their own personal gain, using their positions to elevate their careers and public images, especially the CEO. The massive egos are rampant and out of control. This led to them mismanaging finances and valuable partnerships for which they took zero accountability. Instead they laid off more than half of the company and are mismanaging what's left by hiring their own cronies to take whatever piece of the pie is left until there's nothing. It's very sad and the Board, who has allowed this to happen and given the CEO free reign to run amok with his ego at the helm, should be ashamed of themselves.

An absolute mess

Pros

The coffee isn't too bad

Cons

ETS is torn between new leadership using the organization as a stepping stone to their next gig (the CEO, to name one, would prefer to be a globetrotting keynote speaker) and old-guard employees who are averse to change. Buzzwords like "competency-based learning" and "workforce skills" are thrown around with little understanding of their broader context. The "partnership" with Carnegie, in particular, feels like two dying entities making a last-gasp effort to stay relevant. If you want a glimpse into the organization's current thinking, take a look at the CEO's LinkedIn page. It's full of feel-good fluff, but very little substance. I can't tell if the Board is asleep at the wheel, or if the CEO has given them a coherent strategic plan that the rank-and-file hasn't seen. I hope it's the latter.

Pros

Flexible hours Work from Home Formally had reasonable pay

Cons

Company just advised a 20% pay cut of all employees with 30-days notice -- with option to accept or resign. Never had a raise in 4 years -- but now a 20% payout. Company obviously doesn't respect loyalty of long-term employees.
