Pros

Honestly, I don't know where to start. Each and every person at Duo seems to be at the top of their respective field. The company values awareness and knowledge over everything, which starts with how they create products and bleeds into how they develop people. This is the type of company that you would think wouldn't be successful because of how they treat their employees, yet is taking off like a rocket ship.

Pros

I was offered a job at Duo and had such a good experience I wanted to share with others. Note, the job I took is a much younger company and that's what drew me to that opportunity at this point in my career. It wasn't easy to turn down their offer, as I didn't have any concerns about the people, culture or the product. Their office in Michigan is buzzing with collaboration and good energy. You can feel the focus everyone has on their job but at the same time they work as a team. Duo is very open to remote employees and throughout the interview process, every employee I talked to was professional, respectful and driven.

Cons

Some might think the 'security' industry or working for a security company would be pretty dry. Duo had created a sexy product and solution in this space that I was pleasantly surprised to see.

Stable job, but hard to grow and difficult to get a raise

Pros

Duo was a great place to work at the beginning of the Cisco acquisition. It's still a good place to work, just not as great as it was. - Most people are kind and welcoming and Duo is trying to hold onto their core values as best they can - Work/life balance is good for most folks - Duo is a stable place to work, you don't have to worry about being let go so long as you do your work - Benefits are decent, but could definitely be better

Cons

- My biggest peeve is promotions/raises. They went from 2 promotion cycles a year to 1, so you have to wait an entire year to MAYBE get a promotion/raise. And despite the massive inflation spikes, not a peep about cost of living adjustments. When asked about COL adjustments during a check-in, Cisco leadership skirted the question and never really answered it. There are people struggling to afford to live off of outdated salaries. If you make enough noise, they might give you a small RSU "reward" which means nothing when you're trying to pay your bills. - Cisco has taken hold of Duo for the most part. It still felt like a startup for a while after the acquisition, but that culture is long gone. Some teams have been integrated into Cisco while others haven't quite as much and it's a weird feeling to know there's a whole other world our there that we don't really have any insight into. - Cisco seems to nab top performers from Duo and squeezes them dry. I don't think I've seen a single person stay with Cisco for more than a year after moving over from Duo.
