* Excellent work environment (people) *Relatively flexible (depends on who you report to) *Good pay

Cons

* As others have stated there is a "its who you know, not what you know" mentality. However I feel some postings have overstressed this and the comment on Dow being a "global matrix and network" is more accurate. It is a large company networking is expected.

Pros

Dow is a well-structured company. Shift from basic chemicals to specialty means less cyclical profits and employment. Very concerned about safety.

Cons

Too old and big for it's own good. The policies and procedures on projects became useless formalities that chewed up several people's time and drive. Progress is slowed by paperwork and waiting on so many other people to get things done. Massive layoffs, 10% and then another 5% worldwide, when Dow over-extended their credit in jont venture with Kuwait oil co. and Rohm and Haas buyout.

Good people, good location, good salary, there are a lot of opportunities to grow, global player, chemical production means ability to get the access to innovation.

Cons

too competitive invironment, very difficult to go through different industries and departments, impovemnet in salary would be great as it should be in line with cost of living in the location
