Management are bullies and lazy, no promotion opportunity, low pay, little hours

This company definitely has the screws tightened down on payroll, this often leads to "solo coverage" or working in the store alone. All retail is the "too many tasks, not enough hands to do them" but DG takes things to another level. The pay scale for hourly people is way below industry average with most cashiers making minimum wage and ASM's making around $10 hourly creating a situation where it is difficult to recruit decent talent. Because of this you are constantly hiring new people to replace the ones who quit. This trend continues into the store managers and in some cases district managers. After working big box retail for nearly a decade i cant believe some of the store managers are still employed here. Small staff makes covering shifts nearly impossible, leading to the store mgr having to cover(usually on your 1 day off).
