      I have worked for DG for 7 years and have been promoted 5 times. The company's growth, combined with its mission of Serving Others, makes it a great place to work.

      Cons

      As a discount retailer, we do more with less.

      Pros

      Flexible hours, great customer service experience, excellent advancement opportunities. Upper management is excellent. Work with great staff. Small general store atmosphere.

      Cons

      NEVER ENOUGH PAYROLL, Working shifts alone due to lack of payroll. Registers that breakdown. Low pay for assistant manager. Low pay for the amount of work expected.

      Pros

      The opportunities for advancement at Dollar General are limitless. I have never worked at a company like Dollar General where you can see a clear path to growth and the growth is not stagnant. My coworkers are supportive, driven, and we work well as a team. Despite the size of the company I feel the teams I work with have great communication. There is a clear focus on internal growth and the company has the statistics to back this mission. Each year the company has an internal career fair to further encourage this pattern. This allows for the company to grow and the employees to grow with it.

      Cons

      Depending on the person, some may feel the company is very fast paced. I enjoy the pace because I know the fast paced environment is associated with sales and growth opportunities.
