Tremendous Growth Potential, Lots of Work if You're Willing to Roll Up Your Sleeves
Pros
-If you want to guide your own career, I can't imagine a better place. We have a lean but efficient team, and everyone is incredibly talented and intellectually curious - THE NETWORK - DCG is invested in an amazing portfolio and has a really impressive team, so just in my first month I've been able to meet with top executives, some of the biggest startups in the space, and it's been a really eye-opening experience. Also, if you want to get in touch with anyone, our collective office has a tremendous network so you pretty much just ask and someone is guaranteed to have a connection - The Work: There's incredible opportunity to help shape the strategy and long term vision for DCG, and being surrounded by a smart team that provides critical feedback - THE OFFICE - I love working in an open office so it's been great sitting next to everyone, being able to talk to our CEO whenever (because he sits 10 feet away from me) and we have lots of delicious snacks, iced coffee, a decked out kitchen, and lots of other amenities that make day to day life just that much more comfortable. If I'm going to be in the office, it might as well be a great place to hang out. Plus my coffee spending has effectively become zero. Yay! There's also a yoga studio with discounted memberships on the third floor (Laughing Lotus) that's awesome. I store my mat at work and like to get my yoga on at lunch time or after work. - Compensation and benefits are good, but you're pretty much on your own in navigating benefits
Cons
Like any early stage company, we're still defining our vision and mission and sometimes internal communication can be challenging. There's not much process, which could be a pro or a con depending on your level of comfort with that type of work environment - There is A LOT of work and you have to be able to prioritize a multitude of high priority activities which can be overwhelming if you're used to working in a structured environment where you're told what to work on and given ample time to complete tasks - You're working at an early stage company, so you're giving up some short term compensation in return for longer term equity and upside. Not everyone is comfortable with that arrangement, so it's not a good fit for everyone
