Pros

Stock benefits used to be really good, so those of us "grandfathered in" make good compensation from them. Portland division has nice new office in a great location. Culture allows for pair-programming. Colleagues are smart and competent. Engineers are usually sent to one conference each year. On Thursdays, engineers meet for "development lunch" where folks present technical ideas. Once a week, many engineers meet up for an informal "technical book club".

Cons

As office grows, culture becomes more corporate. Management makes arbitrary deadlines and expects engineers to work overtime to reach them. In the past, engineers have been made to do a silly amount of regulatory paperwork. There are a fair number of low-value meetings that occur for regulatory reasons. No 401(k) matching. A culture exists where employees are discouraged from working remotely. We were told by management to fill out Glassdoor reviews, but to not spend more than 10 minutes on it.

Pros

Dexcom is a good company overall. If you have the right manager, they will see your talents and help you grow. Your experience depends on the department and manager. I like lunch and learns. Also the health conventions are fun.

Cons

Dexcom has been known to be one of the lower paying biotech companies in the area. It's a good place to learn then take the knowledge to another company that will pay you better. They hire many temp workers and conversion to permanent takes a while, if you do get hired. Dexcom's growth is too fast. The facilities are not made to hold as many people as we have. This is resulting in parking issues. Communication between departments could be better. No 401k matching, no tuition reimbursement, low pay compared to industry standard.
