Pros

They know how to throw a party and distract you with booze, but have avoided any and all accountability for how toxic the culture has become.

Cons

Clear signs of gender discrimination, major lack of diversity, low pay, and an unspoken expectation to bend over backwards for unethical clients just so the money keeps coming in. Its common practice for Designit to neglect employees who are vocal about their needs in hopes that they quit rather than having to fire them. It’s also common for one region to blame another for the company’s deficit. Lots of toxicity.

Toxic from the top.

Pros

The team is amazing, some of the most talented and ambitious people I've ever had the chance to work and play with. Great space as well.

Cons

Essentially an incredibly toxic management culture; dishonest, intransparent, mis-representation of numbers and literally playing with people's livelihoods by delaying and deflecting contract negotiations (where HR plays a big role in the toxicity experienced) to the point where pressure mounts and they push people into accepting sub-par offers. One could argue it's a strategy that works, one might wonder whether that's the kind of company one wants to work with. Designit Munich is in no way a representation of Designit global values, which is another problem.

The downfall of Designit

Pros

The absolute best part of Designit is the people. I've never worked with such supportive, kind, and caring people. Most are always willing to help with whatever you need, be it load-balancing or a lending an ear. My experience with work/life balance was pretty good. Though this only came once I figured out that I could get all my work done 5x faster than my coworkers—unless they also figured it out and were spreading the work out throught the day. The feeling of camaraderie among team members was very strong. It always felt like an us vs. leadership mentality.

Cons

Designit, formerly known as Rational, was once an awesome place to work. Under Rational, the benefits were fantastic, and there was a genuine concern for employee welfare. Since the Wipro acquisition, Designit has seen a steady decline in quality and employee satisfaction. Employee benefits have been gutted. Raises, if given at all, are meager at best around 1%. Leadership holds meaningless townhalls to boast about profits, all while laying off large numbers of dedicated employees. For those dedicated to doing things the right way, working on the Microsoft account is a nightmare. Adhering to best practices is impossible when it conflicts with the whims of Microsoft stakeholders. There is zero transparency regarding business decisions made by the C-suite. Employees are left in the dark about critical changes that affect their work and future. The company's focus is overwhelmingly on profit, to the detriment of creativity and quality. This profit-centric approach stifles innovation and demoralizes creative professionals. The CEO has surrounded himself with a leadership team comprised of former coworkers, many of whom lack relevant experience in their new roles and the industry. There are zero opportunities for personal or professional development. The company offers no mentorship programs, and higher-ups show no interest in nurturing employee growth. Performance reviews are a joke. Executives can alter ratings after managers complete them, and managers are prohibited from giving the highest ratings. This system ensures that no one qualifies for meaningful pay increases. Arbitrary PTO policy changes have left tenured employees with a reduction in paid leave, further eroding morale and trust in the company. Despite being a remote-first company, Designit doesn't provide standard benefits like WiFi reimbursement or office equipment. Designit/Wipro has become a place where employee satisfaction is an afterthought, and the focus is solely on profit. It's a shame to see what was once a great agency become a shell of what it once was. I know the job market is tough right now, but if you have a chance to work here—DON'T. Run far, far away.
