Deloitte's hierarchy structure is based on a "Class" concept. People joining in the same year are called the same “class”. Due to this philosophy, no stand-out is truly encouraged. On one hand, slackers will be tossed out for sure. On the other hand, it is sorry for those who can pick up more work and do the work more efficiently than others. In other words, this is not a system that encourages out-performers. As a matter of fact, the firm expects some people to leave and become corporate leaders in the future, for the sake of business development.
