Business Outlook

Pros

Respect of the brand. Opportunities to move around multiple places within Dell. Competitive Compensation. Great benefits and good work life balance.

Cons

Frequent Compensation changes for sales people. HR limits career advancement...you cannot move when you are ready, despite desires from upper management. Even as a repeat top performer, your comp increases may not keep up with new hires. Quota punishment for top performance. Quota based upon throwing darts at a board.

Pros

Dell had an excellent, experienced and committed workforce that grew with company and delivered against all the odds. A great place to stretch into any extra responsibility a person wanted to add to their experience. Excellent open attitude by employees to help each other and respond quicky to any emails requesting help.

Cons

Now it is shedding the long serving middle and junior managers it will lose a lot of the tribal knowledge that kept the place ticking over and delivering. Hard to see how it will survive between Acer/Apple in consumer market and HP/IBM in the high end corporate. Now a 'me too' company without any clear differentiating features.
