Pros

Some great people unfortunately most leave after a short time for better jobs with more reliable hours and higher pay

Cons

I got promoted to the lead and made full-time and I thought it would solve the issues I had been having while thinking of quitting I should’ve quit in the first place because full-time doesn’t mean full-time when alterations isn’t making sales because they’re in an off-season goals are ridiculously high And don’t reflect much actual staffing or customers many months if we had made goal, we wouldn’t have been able to sew it and the process to send things out is not always reliable. Staffing could be good but aside from the lead David doesn’t really want to make other employees full-time And doesn’t want to progress the pay for workers as they improve their skills and can do more complicated work. Customer service at this company is also a joke on a corporate level because if there’s any issue, even if the customer is blatantly wrong, they are usually directed back to the store to just be given a refund Repairs are part of alterations and we are supposedly allotted hours for them but not when we have said that address should be MOS and then have to fix it anyway because the customer needs it and can’t order it but was told they can Hours are supposedly given for repairs and floor time but then there are meetings with corporate level people saying that whoever is doing floor time on the weekend shouldn’t be doing fittings and then store manager will tell that person to do fittings, and then complain that they weren’t on the floor Talking to customers You can work anywhere else. It is much advisable. There is too much stress put on the alterations department for not enough money for skilled work. Before I was the lead, when I was still learning the David’s way of a lot of things. The district manager told me to do a lace him in a way that quite frankly looked cheap and I said something about it not quite looking like it had before, and her response was the customer won’t notice. Our given beyond ones earned for sales are certainly not enough for that work, as there is always more to do than just the sewing of customers dresses, and the fittings, additionally fittings frequently run longer than their allotted time. (if a prom dress has as many layers as a bridal gown, does it make sense that the allotted time is still 30 minutes instead of an hour, for that matter, how does a two dress of a bridal gown compare with a ballgown) Very few options for modest brides and different shades of skin in the nude fabrics, which makes alterations job quite disgusting at times when you’re called out and have to tell someone that to make it not look like a white person Skin color would cost as much as a new dress. Additionally, stupid when manufactures defects, and somebody not feeling like they got enough attention in the trying on dresses stage means that often they get discounts on alterations or dresses or both As a lead alteration specialist, you are not technically a manager yet you perform many manager duties and are sort of expected to be on call at all times if there’s a really big issue or even a small one because they don’t know the answer

Pros

Seeing new products come in I guess?

Cons

Started as a seasonal stylist and worked my BUTT off. I performed even in the down season and finally was promoted to sales manager. It started great at first then all the sudden, not only were there new contracts out the wazoo, but I was responsible for a minimum statistic for every single one of them. They rarely worked out the bugs of new things before starting to hold managers accountable. Made it virtually impossible to bonus. Wouldn’t raise the wage yet get mad when we didn’t hire quality employees. They take the word of ANONYMOUS HR letters, geared toward complaining employees who don’t like to work. They allowed me to do my bridal show KNOWING they were going to fire me. No recognition for the 7 years of service. I missed out on SO many family functions because of their stupid “Bridal Christmas” and it’s demanding schedule. They preach “mental health” bull but then fired me for being late after I crashed my car. SMALL and I mean SMALL policy violations ended my career. -$300 in my account. So thanks. And alllll thanks to a slimy snake who (Still) works there who instead of earning a promotion wrote letters to get people fired. Literally screw this company.

Pros

The hard working individuals such as the stylists, CSRs, alterations and managers.

Cons

-No Competitive salary & benefits(no where near any market ranges and benefits are more expensive and worse policies) -No Paid FMLA (used to pay 4 weeks salary without using time) -Toxic Environment (Ex: corporate customer service tends to ignore warnings of an aggressive, combative and vulgar customers and will send them back to the stores even at the cost of staff safety ) -No Support from corporate (training, harassment situations (customers towards associates), HR, customer service issues, safety concerns, product quality assurance) -No Realistic standards: expected to be attained with cut staff and improper training -Habit of always always always exploiting/conning over the store's management team. -Corporate teaches store managers to not have a team oriented mentality. -As a store manager/assistant manager be prepared to work even when sick and be expected to come in on days off if someone calls out. There are no hired covering managers in the districts. Most grievances are on a corporate level. The in store teams are usually amazing. Used to be a good work place even with high work demand and under compensated salaries. They treat staff like they are incompetent and worthless.
