Pros

Being the first person to provide them with a vision of what they have dreamed their whole life.... It was priceless!!!! I LOVED this job whole heartedly.

Cons

It was once the greatest job EVER UNTIL.... the management started turning on each other. That in itself was a disturbing and unprofessional sight as grown women stabbed each other in the back while having the title of management. It was so bad at one point they literally would talk about each other to the associates, trying to form their alliance. The best thing corporate did was terminate the old management beginning at store level and ending at the regional level. Your business and reputation suffered for YEARS due to the cold greedy managers that paraded down your aisles in the store. Some, who couldn't and didn't even know how to answer the phones or operate the cash register in a pinch. The lies, theft, and deceit that your company along with THOUSANDS of brides endured, believed, and tolerated was nothing short of an Oscar winning performance over and over. How management could take a woman's most special moment and turn it into a non personal experience and manage to berate, insult, embarrass and demoralize them at the same time STILL astonishes me to the day. Looks like Michael Kors received some of those rare gems as employees. They are as fake as a canal street knock off, and in due time all that will surface.

Pros

The only benefit is what my work there could have been, had I worked with a professional company. I came in as a store manager, wanting to lead my staff to success and quickly learned that the store culture was in bad shape. I came in with a positive vision. Due to the general distrust, lack of ethics and professionalism that existed before I even came to there, I had my work cut out for me. The overall down-trending performance of the company made it worse. Many times, people who are very distrustful are because they can't be trusted and lack integrity. Unfortunately, that was some people here. I have led many other teams successfully. I was hired knowing that I could help my team grow or help them understand that this may not be the right place for them. I was met with a high lack of support and professionalism from above and below management. Although, I'm proud that while I was there we had great reviews from customers, that spoke highly of people I hired and trained. The joy of working with your customers, assisting them to prepare for their special day is not enough, when many of the people that you work with behave in a way that makes you almost lose faith in humanity.

Cons

It was hard to leave this company, due to their horrible reputation in the industry, one needs to prove yourself in an interview that you are nothing like what people know of them. You can look for yourself online and see how unhappy their customers are. You can research online and see what a risky company it would be to invest in. For example, the company is rated with a negative outlook for David Bridal siting, weak operating performance and risk that the company may not be able to demonstrate sufficient growth. As a result of this, many fantastic, talented store managers have been pushed out and wasted to protect upper management's own jobs, sacrificing the good of their own company. They have pushed out almost everyone, to put their inept friends in the company. Leadership from upper management is non-existent, unless you think bullying, phony statements count for counseling and coaching. I don't understand the happy manager reviews, the morale in management is terrible and it has no choice but to trickle down. On-boarding and training from a corporation should be top-notch, but it was very unorganized and in much need of improvement. What I have written here is only a small tip of the iceberg. It was the worst employment experience I ever encountered and this company should be ashamed.
