Pros

Usually, DPR's culture is one of the best in the commercial GC world. Upper level managers encourage time off (lots of PTO! 4 weeks a year now) and the jobs are complex and interesting. You'll work with some of the most talented people in the business. DPR's workforce is very diverse, and they try really hard to not let the "old head" mentality dominate.

Cons

However, the Seattle office is one of the company's newest and smallest. So this office is just focused on surviving and getting new work. Culture concerns take a backseat. One company-wide con is the lack of structure. There is barely any structure or guidelines for getting a promotion. Projects have very loose roles and responsibilities, which leads to resentment and delayed reaction time. And more likely than not, you won't get a manger/mentor that has any time to develop you professionally. Very sink or swim.

Thank you for your feedback. We aim to provide opportunities to work on exciting and complex projects with a smart, diverse and supportive team. At DPR, we reject a seniority-based configuration and corporate pyramid. Instead, our organizational structure is designed to encourage collaboration and support project teams. We know it’s different than other companies and it can take some time to learn how we work. We wish you the best in the future and thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Pros

Many mega size projects. Smart people working there, especially technical resources. Lots of company events and fun culture. Salary is competitive. Young employees that fit the mold will grow quickly.

Cons

Lack of different size projects can stunt growth as after you master the small jobs there’s nothing medium size, so you get stuck. They want to tell you how great a company they are all the time. The safety team requires a lot from project teams.
