Pros

The relaxed environment, no suits, ties or strict rules to follow is great. There are many fields to pursue within the core markets that DPR focuses on, you have the ability to not get pigeonholed. The exposure to different technology and experiences is really exciting. The compensation is competitive, but sadly, you may have to prove your worth versus your manager looking out for you.

Cons

No rigid standards is good, but there needs to be guidelines and clear expectations. DPR was able to be loose, fake it and make it up as they went along from 1990-2010, but now with the size of the company, if they don’t get their people and processes in line, the threat that will bring DPR down is going to come from their own doings. There are no “titles”, but that a bunch of crap, people know the pecking order and senior management uses this intimidation to influence people. The other thing with no titles that DPR take advantage of is they can charge a client for a PM but pay a PE to do the work, but mask this hypocrisy by saying, “we need you to show us you can do it... the money and promotion will come...”

Pros

Excellent compensation package, good atmosphere to work, people are friendly an helpful. Interesting highly technical projects.

Cons

DPR will work you until you drop, literately, be prepared for very long work hours and very little quality of life outside of work. It is becoming a cult atmosphere, give your life to DPR or leave. Some very high level Sr manager..... one of the worst people I've ever worked for. It took me a solid year to recover after I left, physically, mentally and emotionally.

Pros

Great people passionately working long hours. Work hard play hard mentality Good benefits Vehicle and gas compensation

Cons

Leaders are mostly arrogant know-it-alls that dont take positive criticism Some employees are white supremacist with swastica tattoos Leaders will constantly laugh in meetings about how profitable their self perform work group is, and how they just feed their self perfom group the number they need to be at to win the job Company leaders in SoCal Irvine/Pasadena office lack Core Values Company is not honest with the subcontractors they use and mostly just use their bids as a check number Employee development is disgraceful, it is used as a carrot on a stick to keep employees thinking more money will come soon. I have seen many young talented individuals leave because of this, and this is the number one reason for them to leave. Company is disorganized and lacks structure. Everyone does everything, and not everyone follows the flowchart on how leadership is supposed to flow, with what roles and responsibilities are to take place. It sounds nice at first but being here for many years this lack of structure is not good. The titleless company rule they have is a way for the company to award an endless barrage of work. Example: if you are a project manager, they will have you do some FOC/Engineering/Accounting and estimating work as they believe title-less company dictates you have to be flexible and do all jobs with no additional pay. Caught the managers using funds to pay for their sport events, even though they have an agreement with the customer to only charge materials and labor. Bonuses are weak. 401k only pays 50% of up to 6% its not great.
