Pros

Great culture, positive overall morale, dogs allowed in office, wine bars in all offices, lots of office functions, cool offices, pushing the limit on what can be done in construction.

Cons

When compared to other companies in the Bay area, they are lack a lot of the benefits, such as, meals provided, free massages, vacations, but it's a construction company. You'd be luck to find that at construction companies anywhere.

Pros

I'm given tremendous freedom in executing my job and taking care of clients. I'm also given the freedom to explore innovative solutions and processes to help us be better. The culture is fantastic. Exploring better ways to do things is not only encouraged but supported and recognized. I also love that the organization is incredibly "flat" for such a large company and that most regions, departments, etc. are led by teams, rather than individuals..."a three-stranded cord is not easily broken" Finally, there is a tremendous focus and support for the employee. The leaders really do care about me and my family.

Cons

Hours can sometimes be long, but if you love what you do, like me, what's the problem? Nobody forces me to work the hours I do. I do what needs to be done to satisfy the clients, both internal and external. On the other hand, if my family needs me and I can't work as much as I'd like or need, most everyone understands. In some instances, the lack of a formal hierarchy can be a struggle. It can be difficult to know who to approach to get an answer or support. However, in most cases, I just keep doing what I'm doing until someone tells me to stop. I really like that and it plays out in other areas as well. Rather than creating a lot of do's and don'ts, issues are addressed directly with the individual instead of using passive, broad-sweeping rules that limit everyone's freedom.
