Pros

They company is definitely not afraid to spend money on employees for company events, catered lunch, beer/wine, and office amenities. They probably have some of the best parties and the office really attracts potential employees and clients.

Cons

You still have to work and get your job done - that's where there's quite a few cons. The company has developed very inefficient processes and that are becoming more complex in lieu of simplified like the rest of the industry. It's not uncommon to spend a full day on filling out forms before being able to do anything on a project. All of these forms are imposed by upper management for CYA purposes. The company also has an antiquated and buggy project management system that again makes typical tasks inefficient and cumbersome. If you ask to change something or fix a bug in the system, it will take a long time to get any feedback and will likely fall through the cracks. Once you get used to all of this, you must then deal with the bureaucracy and politics that has developed and overtaken the original culture of the company. It's all about who you know and less about results - once you are there a while, you figure the system out and it's quite obvious what makes their gears turn.

Pros

A truly great company to work for. Most construction managers and general contractors feed you the typical "culture" speech during the interview process. What sets DPR apart is the fact that the "culture" speech isn't just a speech...it's reality. DPR provides an excellent environment for career growth while providing ample opportunities to socialize outside of work. I couldn't be happier with my career at DPR.

Cons

With freedom comes diversification...with diversification comes confusion. DPR provides employees the opportunity to perform your job in a way that makes sense to you. The only downside to this process is the lack of clarity and structure between projects. Too much structure is never a good thing and too little structure can make it very difficult to transfer from one project to another. This stresses the importance of peer group meetings where "current best practices" are often discussed.

Pros

They really give importance to their core values. You get the opportunity to choose what you want. And the interns are no different from Project Engineers. You get your freedom to talk in meetings and everybody at DPR appreciates that even if you are wrong sometime. It is the eagerness and interest to learn that matters the most.

Cons

Not a company for people who like to follow or give orders.
