Pros

The members are some of the best people you will ever meet. If you have the right owner and staff with you it can be a great and inspiring job. Very flexible about hours and shifts. Free gym access.

Cons

If you have a bad owner, the whole club will suffer. Answering for corporate image is difficult due to recent moves by company heads. Rather low paying for a part time position. No fitness training is provided that is usable toward personal training certification.

Pros

Great way to meet people. I loved the fact that I was making a difference in a person's life. Weight loss (in a healthy way) is hard, and becoming part of someone's support system is awesome. Coaches are certified by the Cleveland Clinic and it is roughly 18 hours of training. I like the fact that coaches are certified. Diet plan is good, but having even MORE variations would be epic! I hope they continue to improve their meal plans. More machines would be great, such as a treadmill.

Cons

Pay is low--$10.25 is the minimum wage at the moment. With me being a Cleveland Clinic certified coach then I would want the same pay. It is a franchise, I understand but having a minimum throughout all Curves facilities would be great! Additional machines within the facility would be great, such as a treadmill. I know treadmills aren't part of the Curves Workout but they also need to understand that they may be losing potential and valuable customers due to small things like that. I attended a meeting with Curves International via. phone conference and they were saying that all non-Curves equipment aren't allowed in facilities... which I obviously did not agree with. Having dumbbells and hula hoops available can be motivating for some people, why would you restrict someone's options? Career Opportunities - I'm going to rate this as dissatisfied because you have two options. First, you can become a coach to train Curves' members and second, you can love the business so much that you become a franchise owner. Besides, there's not much you can get for career opportunities... unless you move to USA to be part of headquarters and I'm not looking for a move. If it had other available career opportunities (accounting, financial, health promotion, etc) it would be awesome!!!

Pros

If you care about changing women's lives, this is the job for you. You are surrounded by a culture that requires this passion! There is also a very flexible schedule as all the team members work with each other to cover shifts and be able to take time off as needed.

Cons

Rewarding work with little pay. The amount of paperwork and behind the scenes work is quite a bit. Remember the rule in college, 2 hours of homework for every hour of class? The same applies here, for every hour of shift work I do, I need to do 2-3 hours of paperwork, billing, marketing. It just makes for a lopsided focus and balance come the end of the day.
