Pros

I've been at CookUnity for a while and it’s honestly one of the most energizing places I’ve worked. The company is on a clear mission — making real food more accessible — and it shows in both the product and the people. The whole company is growing quickly and launching a lot of very exciting initiatives, not resting on its early success. There’s a lot of autonomy, and if you like creating, iterating, and running with ideas, this is a great place for that. Leadership cares, and while we move fast, there's also a lot of thought behind what we're building. We're not just chasing growth — we’re solving real problems, like nutrition and workplace wellness. It's exciting, messy, and meaningful.

Cons

the pace is intense, and the company is still working through natural growing pains — building foundations, aligning across teams, and scaling with limited resources. If you’re proactive and thrive in ambiguity, you’ll love it. If you’re looking for a super structured environment, it might be a stretch.

Pros

You get the joy of cooking without the stress of traditional kitchens, surrounded only by fellow chefs who offer lots of valuable knowledge and friendly conversation. The work can be intense at times, and the volume of the prep can feel arduous but there is also a sense of reward considering you see all the food through to the plate.

Cons

At the time I was there, it was competitive getting access to ovens and even sheet pans and rolling carts. I don't know if it has gotten better or worse, as when I was leaving many new chefs were joining the fray. Also, despite loving the work, the pay was far too low to see it as a viable long term option.
