Pros

Great benefits (tuition for self, spouse, and children), large organization with room for movement and growth. Employees are surrounded by and often work closely with scholars who are thought leaders in their field.

Cons

Low morale in many departments. Senior management often perceived to be looking out only for themselves and their friends. Bureaucratic.

Pros

The benefits here are more competitive than most equivalent private sector jobs, to offset the less generous salary. As with any university setting though, it can be very bureaucratic and slow to progress.

Cons

• pay is lower than private sector • job can be dull and without challenge • somewhat inconvenient location depending on where you live

Pros

Columbia University provide you with good academic background. The research environment is relatively good. Good faculty members in the graduate school.

Cons

Housing is very expensive and the neibourhood is not very nice. The west side of manhattan is not so nice as the east side.
