Pros

The supervisors and technicians were for the most part hard workers. Pay had dramatically improved recently due to the inflation

Cons

When I started Collins Aerospace was a much smaller company and then was bought a few times until it finally became Collins Aerospace. At first we had a lot of employee events lead by HR but once it became Collins, the HR budget was cut to nearly nothing. The people on the floor and supervisors are mostly hard workers and know what is going on. The decision makers above the supervisors are making decisions without actually understanding what that will mean for the work flow.

Pros

Decent salary for new employees, variety of products and teams, employee scholar program

Cons

Poor leadership at senior levels, poor merits and no bonuses so salary stagnates for every year of service you stay there, employee retention is not a value at this company, keeping lifers underpaid and dealing with turnover is part of their financial strategy, very strict cost control on travel/indirect spending/CapEx/IR&D

Pros

I worked with the best people. My local management team were fantastic people, I miss them.

Cons

The cons are many, where to start? - risk averse to the point where it threatens the company's future - monotonous; actual career growth opportunities were few and far between for technical leaders - dense HR; they couldn't adjust to a high inflation environment at a time unemployment in the engineering workforce was at an all time low. The data was there but you didn't listen to it. -digital technology assets were poorly configured, poorly maintained, and too infrequently updated. I spent the last year of my time at Collins fighting with a computer that didn't work properly and a DT organization that didn't care. - promotion timelines were never clear; all of the vagueness and ambiguity convinced me that I was giving Collins my most productive years with nothing in it for me. If you want to be a great engineer, if you want to have an exciting career, this isn't the place.
