Pros

Cool products and people. Location, location, location.

Cons

It's going the way of the dinosaur. This division is lead by uninspired and uninspiring people. Innovation and change are demanded of the employees, but when it comes time to implement those ideas there's no support from management. It's an insurmountable bureaucratic mess. All the manufacturing has moved out of San Diego to cheaper locations. Could totally see the remaining engineering and management structure get relocated adjacent to the manufacturing sites within the next 5-10 years and completely exit San Diego area.

Pros

Not much left at this point. If I had written a review before the UTC merger (for Rockwell Collins) I would have had plenty of good to say.

Cons

After the UTC merger: 1) "synergies" were just a nice way of saying benefit cuts 2) new management's attitude is "If you aren't happy... leave" 3) People a flying out the door so fast they can't be replaced leaving gaps and weak-points in program management and technical experience. 4) Companies future from and employee moral standpoint is bleak and unsustainable.

Pros

competitive salary usual benefits good plan to start a career and learn

Cons

lack of diversity in leadership above mid Manager. retention issues due to lack and limited opportunities. Crony culture for leadership positions- manager and above posting is only a check the box usual hire person is decided before the posting. lack of integrity and seeking the best talent in internal hiring and promotion for a leadership position to keep the current thoughts/culture, and business models the same. Outdated business models focus on quarterly earnings and cash flow over the customer/employee satisfaction, eroding or stagnating market share in the legacy business - hence acquisitions no front line decision making all creativity, innovation held and directed by directors/general managers
