Great learning environment, fast pace, but too slow to adapt

Pros

-Access to the best tools, systems and third party partnerships -Excellent HR-run classes, seminars and presentations from key leaders allow [corporate] employees an expansive view of the company's inner workings -Employee discount -Considering other fashion brands, many teams have a relaxed dress code -Some of the veteran directors are very observant and make well-informed decisions. You can learn a lot from them -Summer Fridays -Long company history cements a sense of brand identity

Cons

-Promotions are rarely given out based on professional qualifications and the bonus structure sounds tantalizing, but is unattainable due to poor stock performance and most of the bonus tied to company share prices -Office is located in a dead zone - several avenues from transit, food or anything else -Management never does anything wrong - every outright failure is re-spun as a success or barred from open discussion because people are afraid of management -Very strict hierarchy over-emphasizes rank at the cost of the dissemination of ideas -The most qualified individuals are all leaving in droves for better paying opportunities over the past two years; faces change frequently -Most teams operate in silos with a tribal mentality, duplicating work and sharing very little information

Good experience, bad pay

Pros

Manager gives you good training and really wants you to focus on great customer service. Nice co-workers Good discount Bonuses if your store reach your monthly sales goal Looks good on your resume if you want to enter the fashion retail biz There's always a sales supervision to watch over you and help you out in case you get stuck with a difficult customer

Cons

Bad pay for student Short hours even though I reach and exceed my sales goals almost all of the time It's always about selling selling selling which equals more pressure No commission Manager is super strict about hours - you have to clock in exactly ON time and clock out ON time of your schedule On-call schedule - you'll have to call work to see if you're needed and you can't make any other plans Co-workers can be aggressive and puts label on returning clients as "theirs" Work uniform is basic but you'll have to use your own money to buy it and it needs to be approve by manager before you can wear it drama on the sales floor

Pros

There was never a moment when I thought someone on my team didn't have my back The customers are treated well, so it's rare to have to deal with unhappy people great training and consistent updates on product knowledge

Cons

the compensation is dependent on how the group does, not your personal goals
