Pros

There is an excellent opportunity for advancement. Their training is very thorough, although some people tend to get left behind. In my opinion, most of those who do get left behind were not good fits for the job in the first place. Those that do make it through training, and the first 90 days of employment tend to be very successful. If you can tough it out in an entry level position you can work your way through the ranks.

Cons

As stated previously it can be a grind to get a chance at promotion. But like most jobs that's just the way it goes. Senior management makes attempts to give employee recognition, but a lot of the time it as seen as cheesy.

Pros

Prestige, market position and quality of the work colleagues was a key benefit of working at Citi. The firm's market dominance in the corporate fixed income, equities and M&A markets allowed me to work on high-profile transactions with the world's premier clients.

Cons

Chaotic management environment. I was with Citigroup and its predecessor firm, Salomon Brothers, for over five years. While the management of the Investment Bank was dominated by executives of the former Salomon franchise, there were numerous executive changes, which coincided with a severe market downturn.

Pros

It is a large company and not going out of business any time soon. Company has many programs. Company is large enough for relocation and job mobility. The company offers different flexible spending options like parking, health care, and transit.

Cons

-lots of silos -groups do not talk to each other and lots of finger pointing -high cost for medical (2009- $82 per paycheck) -a tendency to lay off employees and bring in foreign consultants to work slightly cheaper -employees never meet with HR, even during benefits season. Employees tend to get an email with updates. There is no avenue to discuss issues related to Human Resources.
