Pros

The only good part is the name. If you can get a job with the company and leverage its name towards moving up in your career, then that's about the best reason for working at Cisco.

Cons

Directors and middle managers are mostly incompetent and unable to lead or manage resources amongst them. Instead, they like to take the success of their subordinates and make it there's. So when it comes to proper recognition of work, acknowledgment of contribution, and everything you'd expect to advance in your career, you can forget about.

Cisco is Failing its employees

Pros

Cisco is big on diversity. As they hire, they focus on bringing in diverse candidate pools, and Occasionally they will give "Day for Me" which is a free day off for the entire company.

Cons

VERY long hours. Expect to start work early, and be forced to work late with offshore teams. This isn't a once in a while thing, but has become expected with everyone working remotely. Culture has taken a VERY negative downturn in the past 3 months. Lots of new management changes that highlight how little they care about their employees. There is no support for others. Everything is through the lens of how "I" look to my leaders. I would not recommend anyone become a people manager. This role comes with all the blame and none of the reward. You will be expected to constantly push your team for results, work harder with fewer resources, and try to keep spirits up in a team that isn't rewarded for their work.

Pros

Absolutely nothing I can think of

Cons

Primary Cons - No development / innovative work - Only bug fixing & debugging work - low level coding standards used in the code base - you will spend most of time debugging some error which a guy in USA office is stuck with - will lose your coding skills gradually due to no application to daily work - software engineering role is more like a dev ops networking kind of role - will be surrounded by people who don't care about what they work on, basically people just living for the weekends - not a lot of monetary benefits , very petty hikes & bonuses - hiring standards are very low, they pretty much hire anyone who has basic coding / scripting skills - employee strength is huge , which leads to chaos in daily activities - no well defined vision, requirements from your manager keep changing every monday - you may work on some code on an idea for a few days , eventually to find that idea has scrapped by higher management - not one of those companies who shift performing employees to HQ in USA - flexible work timing is just a trap , which gives them right to make you work at night or weekends - lot of blame game between teams, just to divert bugs / issues from themselves - not at all suited for people starting their career , as learnings phase is almost null - innovative or product development ideas are dropped because people are busy debugging build issues - Cisco bangalore does not have any R&D labs as such, was built for sole purpose for providing support San Jose office - very low skilled people , not up to date with emerging technologies , nor do they have the zeal to learn - in case you joined newly from college, you will be randomly assigned a division, then its pretty difficult to move to any division of your choice (may take years) Secondary cons: - more than 7000 employees in the campus, too much crowded - cafeteria food is very bad - located in a dirty and polluted area TO SUM UP, YOU WILL BE REDUCED TO A GUY WHO ANSWERS QUERIES, SOLVES BUILD ISSUES, AND RESOLVES BUGS RELATED TO THE WORK IN SAN JOSE HQ
