Great Work Life Balance, But Unstable Company

Pros

- Great work life balance - Management is supportive - Ability to grow and learn within the company - Unlimited PTO if you are in the U.S.

Cons

- The company continues to lay off staff that reside in the U.S. and then will turn around and hire overseas (Philippines, India, LATAM) for cheap. I have seen really great, dedicated employees who worked for over 10+ years get laid off. Also, there are so many layoffs now that they don't even announce it. One day you're talking to a coworker and the next day they're gone. - Unrealistic project deadlines. - Decisions on the future tools that the department will use daily are made by higher ups without any input from the people who will actually use them. - Company's overall financial outlook isn't the best these days, but executive still are flying on a regular basis to various office locations around the world.

Hi, this is Marissa Geist, CEO. Thank you for your candid feedback and for your eight years of dedication to Cielo. I appreciate you highlighting the positive aspects of our culture, including work-life balance, supportive management, and growth opportunities. If you have been with us for almost a decade, like I have, we’ve lived through many of the same changes together, from growing from a US business to a global one, as well as the boom of technology and tools out in the market. I know the Cielo I walked into isn’t the same one I work at today, and that’s by design. One thing that hasn’t changed, however, and won’t change as long as I am CEO is our commitment to our people and the experience – however long – they have with our company. If you’re questioning whether this is still the right place for you, that’s completely understandable. We want our team members to feel engaged and excited about being here, and we respect your decision to do what’s best for you. Your points about technology make sense. We have plenty of things we need to do at scale to make the whole business work, and sometimes that doesn’t reconcile with what you see in your role every day. If you have suggestions, I hope you are voicing them to your leaders and to the tech team. What I can say is that everyone is doing the best they can with the information and resources they have available. If you have new information, that might help inform a new decision. If you want to talk about a specific concern, reach out to me directly at Marissa.Geist@cielotalent.com. If you are in our Tosa office, stop on by. I am there most days.
