Pros

It's a slow-pace environment where you can get comfortable. No micromanaging by supervisors (although that may be unique to my experience) Decent work-life balance.

Cons

Very conservative culture - typical to the oil and gas industry, seemingly. A bit slow moving and not completely compatible with Gen Y expectations. People are very tolerant of "everyone's ideas"...this is good, for the most part, but I find it a bit tedious to have to listen to all the BAD ideas and thoughts.

Pros

Emphasis on safety second to none which is VERY important in an energy company and they really mean it. Best 401k matching funds in industry, profit sharing getting much better recently. Very technology-driven upstream and one can really grow working with the world's best. Many international offices for those with wanderlust. Very good training and career development programs for the youngest to the oldest workers.

Cons

Process-driven to the point that it slows down decision making. In exploration this can result in lost opportunites when quicker reacting companies swoop in ahead of Chevron. Wish they had 100% tuition re-imbursement, not their 75% , for approved work-related college courses.
