Pros

Work life balance can be quite good at time. Also the people who work there are very smart. There is a strong focus on learning and growing within the company. If you find a good team and good work it can be fantastic

Cons

In general people are not responsible for the outcomes of their work. There is a real lack of connection between what we produce and what actually happens. Additionally, your success will largely be determined by the specific projects you are assigned to. As it is a bit of an experimental business, many of these will fail. So a really good analyst can get screwed because his project doesn't work while a poor analyst may succeed beyond imagination.

Pros

Even if you work part-time, you are still eligible for benefits, vacation (including sick time), and the option to enroll in the 401(k). I was a part-time student, unsure with what to do for a career. Working at Capital One has given me great and rewarding responsibility. I have developed great relationships with my coworkers, and friendships with regular customers. I like knowing that I helped someone with a problem, whether it be big or small. Knowing that customers trust me with their information and transactions is very satisfying. I feel better prepared to work in a professional environment following college graduation, whether it be further up at Capital One, or elsewhere.

Cons

The only downside that bothers me is management's lack of trust in their employees. Yes, some employees are young (like myself), but sometimes I feel as if I am being treated like a child. Sometimes I feel like they doubt their employees' judgement, but I try not to let that bother me, especially if I know I am doing a good job. Work/life balance can be quite a challenge. I am in school and work part-time, and I have been faced with scheduling problems when it came down to final exam time. The issues were resolved, but was difficult at times.
