Pros

Felxible hours Ability to meet new people daily Easy payment, weekly

Cons

Cambly, while such an innovative idea and a great tool in aiding people around the world to learn English, is riddled with nousance. I've been working with Cambly for 6 months. Initially, I thought this was going to be a great opportunity to make extra money as well as practice my teaching skills for my full time position. Unfortunately I was smacked in the face pretty quickly. When you are added to the Cambly team, you are presented with an option called "Priority Hours PH". With PH you can booked an hour slot of time for you to be on priority for any calls that come in. Now while on PH it is highly advised to NOT miss a call. If you miss 2 calls, you will more than likely be released from your hour slot. Now, the pay is 15 minutes guaranteed pay for PH hours, which seems like a lot but it's roughly $2.00. So if you are relased say, 30 mins into the hour, you now lose that money, unless you had calls and acutally spoke to students, you get to keep that money. Now, again PH sounds ideal, however, the availability for PH is slim to none. Initially, I seen 24 hours a day for 7 days a week available, soon as I began working, 0....yes 0 hours were available. So I have to fight for PH hours...meaning when someone else drops their slot, you must rush to the website and add it before another tutor adds it. More than likely, someone has alreday beat you. So yes, PH is a great idea, but with all of the tutors working already, slight chance you won't get this opportunity. Now, I'm sure you're thinking, well I still can work the regular hours, that's acutally a nice thought, but again, if tutors fill up the PH hour slots, do you think you will receive a phone call from a student? No. I will say that your profile, be that it is decorated with tons of certifications and accolades will attract students to you. Again, slim to none chance. Let's take the pay. The pay is very ridiculous. Most of the calls you get are "free trial" users, they get 5 - 15 minutes. Most being 5 minutes, you receive calls from people who don't know what to do besides smile and say "hello" 50 times, or you get the men who see your profile picture and just want to flirt. I'll be addressing this in detail soon. So after you have talked for 1 minute, congratulations, you've made 0.17 cents! If the call is ended before the first minute, you have earned 0....0...0. The plus for the payment, is that it's weekly and you get paid every cent you earn, tax free. Be alarmed though, Cambly is based out of San Francisco, so you won't receive your funds until about 12:30 pm pst Monday. Dating site. Have you heard the term, "The freaks come out at night"? Well, that's proved to be truer and truer on Cambly. While you're working at night, you will receive a fair share of calls from gorwn men trying to flirt and show you their chest etc. Fortunately, Cambly has a "report" and "ban immediately" button on the tutor interface. That helps very much so, but if you report them once, they can call back . Free trial students get banned from Cambly after two reports. Regular students, they don't get banned but they get reviewed by Cmably, pending suspension. All in all, I like working for Cambly. The money has paid bills and paid for free time for my family and I. I know my cons may be overwhelming, but the truth needs to be told.

Legitimate work from home job!

Pros

I've been working for Cambly for about a month and it's exactly what I was looking for. I pick my own hours, work from home and get paid when I'm supposed to. You will not get rich working as a tutor at Cambly but you will get paid for every minute you work. The company is very transparent on what is expected and how you will be compensated, and they have absolutely held up their side of the deal. I have met so many wonderful people (students) and I've made some real connections with some of them. This job is not easy, and you must be prepared to work. You will need patience both with students who are learning a new language, so they may struggle and with the amount of time it takes to build up relationships with them, so they come back to you time and time again. A good sense of humor and a lot of kindness will help as well. I've read reviews with people complaining about the pay but as I said, Cambly is transparent and very upfront about how you will be paid. If that doesn't suit you or your life, this is not the job for you. Just read the description and know what you’re getting into pay wise and then make your choice. Bottom line, this is an interesting and sometimes challenging job that I happen to love. You will be paid, but you will work for it.

Cons

I wish there were more priority hours available but outside of that, I have no real cons.
