Don’t do it

Pros

Bonuses can be nice and I got good training. My direct manager is fantastic, can’t say the same about everyone above him. The people at my shop are awesome too.

Cons

Pay is overall not enough for the amount that you have to deal with. There is way too much expected of you as an estimator. Not only do you have to balance stuff with customers, your have to order parts, hunt down payments that haven’t been issued, wash cars, drive cars places, make sure technicians are happy, make customers happy. On top of that, if there’s too much work at your shop, they will take cars away from us and give them to other centers. No matter how good our shop does, it’s never enough. Even when we were number one in the region for a year straight, they never give us a break, it’s still riding us for not doing things right when every other shop in our region is doing horribly. Management expects more and more without proper compensation. Btw they pay parts and office staff WAY too low. They could work at McDonald’s or In-n-out for more money and they work so hard. Shameful. And they wonder why turnover is so high. Upper management doesn’t care about our employees. There’s also no work life balance at all. They even expect us to come in on Saturdays sometimes if our sales aren’t high enough.

Pros

What I really appreciate is that the line of business is recession proof and that over half of revenue was referral business from insurance partners. Provides a peace of mind and stability allowing one to truly focus on job at hand vs having to worry about if the doors are going to close. There is so much potential, which is exciting.

Cons

Outside of ones department, the culture is off - a bit toxic. There is tremendous change happening and you feel it. The good about establishing a positive environment within ones team is that it makes it easier to work through hard times with other departments. Focus on what you can do!

Pros

Coworkers, good place to learn about estimating and vehicles in general, good environment within.

Cons

Outside Management, the way the company is structured is flawed, making the monthly numbers is not enough. Disrespectful corporate & regional managers towards workers in the shop.
