Pros

Great place for growth. Good talent with low turnover rate. Competitive salaries. The Northbrook facility is great, with a gym and decent cafeteria.

Cons

Not a great place for work life balance . Upper management have sometimes unrealistic expectations. The benefits are also not that great.

Pros

It is very easy to get a job at CVS once you complete the 45 minute online virtual job try out. As an Operations Manager you have one of the few positions at store level that receives full time. It is the only position below the SMIT or store manager in training position which can ascend directly to store manager. You will gain a great amount of knowledge for store managing to take with you to your next job.

Cons

Too much emphasis on needless online as well as in class training. Stores are grossly under staffed due to payroll budget being stripped to bare minimum or based on the fact that hiring new employees takes so long due to a variety of reasons from the corporate process to the fact that people are not rushing to the door to grab a job that pays barely above minimum wage, schedules them for hardly any hours, and expects them to perform 30 tasks a shift when they do eventually get a shift. Turn over rate is so high which adds to the difficulty. You will finally get staff trained and working well just to have someone leave and then getting a new employee back up to the level of the one lost, is extremely difficult. There is not enough one on one time for true leadership as you, and said new person, may be the only ones in the store at times and while they are ringing on register you are doing everything else. DM visits and RM visits will drive you crazy. LP audits are a joke and if you are in a high shrink store expect them every 30 days. You are basically the managers go to person so expect to be scheduled for crazy shifts at all hours of day and night due to lack of coverage or loss of personnel. Last but certainly not least. If you do not rise your salary will be maxed out. This means that their are cashiers, shift supervisors, operations supervisors who have made CVS their career and have 12 plus years of service in those positions but if you ask they will tell you they haven't had raises in 4, or 5, or 6 years due to being maxed out. The cost of living doesn't max out but CVS seems to think it does.

Pros

Flexible scheduling, great benefits, decent pay

Cons

No autonomy. All diagnosis are computer generated as are treatment options. You cannot deviate from the algorithm without receiving chastising emails from corporate. It is Burger King for medicine; if you do not give the patient what they want, you will get a bad review.
