Pros

Pretty much everyone works like a family. A well oiled machine. Every now and then you get a few kinks in here and there, but they usually work their way out....sometimes with a little help. Training is a big part of this company and I fully appreciate it.

Cons

There are a few things that kind of hurt CVS from my eyes. First off is the Heath Care benefits. I was so used to going into a Kaiser Permanente, putting down my 30 dollar copay, and that was it with my old company. CVS uses Etna, and and besides the copay, you have to pay a little more for everything that was done. Bill to follow. The second part is for those who wish to move up in the company. Find a store that has a manager that is willing to work with you and get you to the classes you need. It can get a little crazy. I'm at my 3rd store now. Lets hope 3rd time is a charm.

Pros

Pay and bonuses are equal to most other companies. The benefits package is high quality. In some areas they value work/life balance but this is not true in all areas of the company.

Cons

Some of the downsides to working for CVS Caremark are growth opportunities. Corporately in some ways they are still a small Woonsocket company. Their tuition reimbursement is next to nothing and they do not spend a lot of time trying to grow their own employees skill sets. Corporately, it is a very political environment and promotions are often given out based more on who you get the opportunity to interface with rather than the work that you do.

Pros

Flexible hours, opportunities for further career growth potential (if you are planning to go into a medical field, especially pharmacy), on-the-job training for technicians and CVS will pay the fee for technicians to become nationally certified. Very knowledgeable, personable pharmacists who take the time to address customer issues and help answer any questions employees may have with drugs or CVS procedure.

Cons

Store managers seem unaware/uninterested in any personal situations occurring in the pharmacy, such as scheduling conflicts or requests for more hours. Until anything affects the store manager, they are not interested in assisting you.
