Unless you find the holy grail of consulting, which is being 100% assigned to a project, you might find yourself begging around for work and doing menial tasks, like ordering lunches or doing people's expense reports just to stay busy, or being assigned random tasks that don't have a project number. You could work really hard and still not get recognized for your efforts. Most company processes are extremely cumbersome and frustrating. There is plenty of work to be done but very poor resource management. Also, recent organizational changes caused a large number of employees to be laid off and have their jobs sent overseas, which brought its own set of project coordination issues given the time zone difference.
