Great Place to Work if you are a Star Performer.
Pros
Darwinian approach where star performers are treated well and have selection of choice projects. Strong reputation and respect in the global (except Europe) water & wastewater treatment industry. Promotes Work/Life balance where if you are the type of person, it's an option -- work from home, 4 10 hour days per week, etc. Strong sense of culture from the top down. Global reach where options for relocation or at least having a local office to work out of when you are visiting someone in another city and don't wish to use your vacation days. I accumulated exceptional professional experience while working there, which I did not fully appreciate until after stepping out of the organization. Give to them, and they will give back -- very fair deal.
Cons
Average compensation and benefits, with minimal % increase salary adjustments, even with high performance -- however, tends to higher at somewhat higher than market rate, so make sure you negotiate well for a higher base salary. Projects based employment, where you need to be ready to move to where the work is - even if on temporary assignments. Like many companies, not a clear promotion pathway or career development opportunities -- it helps tremendously if you can find your "angel mentor(s)" to support you as you progress through the organization. It's a good old boys network where the better your networking skills, the better your options in terms of future project and role staffing. Pay attention to the primary type of work out of your home office as it's very location specific -- meaning if your home office is heavily focused on wastewater projects, then this will be what most of your projects (and experience opportunities) will be. Survival of the fittest is not for all.
