Pros

Diverse opportunities. It's not just one industry or product. Large scale projects are exciting and rewarding.

Cons

Depending on the engagement, you could be working in isolation from the rest of CGI ... but with a client so you're not completely alone. It can be difficult to feel like you're still connected to CGI. Just make sure your manager keeps communicating with you.

Pros

CGI is a $4 billion company with over 25000 employess. That being said, they have very different policies around the globe. This review is specific to Toronto area, a Metro with very high cost of loving. Personally I chose CGI for 2 reasons, proximity to Home and potential job openinings in several other market vericals and geograhic locations, particularly India. If you are a candidate comprehending rturn-2-india , you may want to seek employment here. CGI does not really tie your job responsibilites to designation. One could be a program manager and designated Sr Consultant. CGI is a well recognized brand name is Canada. Very liberal tele-commute policy.

Cons

Well CGI being one of the biggest consulting forms in Canada with many clients in many verticals, Its hard to look for a job full-time or contact when you decide to move on without violating the no-compete. At the middle management level, there is no reward for extra effort either as over-time pay or time in-lieu. A consultant or Sr consultant are entitled to over-time pay.

Pros

multiple locations reasonable salary Benefits are reasonable for consulting. Will let you work flexible hours. US staff is isolated from Montreal

Cons

It depends on the project you are on, some are great, some are just mismanaged, poor management is tolerated. Getting promoted is based on being on the right project, if they are growing you can get promoted. too many people are promoted and then can't produce, need to have a review structure in place to remove them or demote them. Montreal Management, while successful, do not understand how to make the US consulting more successful CGI does not have strong C-level access at the companies they work for, so they tend to get more technical and minor consulting gigs, unlike Accenture or IBM. Strong outsourcing focus, yet they are very weak in the field. If you are not on a project, you have two weeks to find a new role, otherwise you are laid off. Dumb to say the least.
