Does Not Meet Expectations

Pros

Nice view from the Dudley Tower.

Cons

* New hires get paid more than employees who have been here for 5-6 years. * Pay is woefully uncompetitive, employees are rapidly leaving for $20k-$30k pay increases elsewhere in the area. * Yearly salary raises are a joke, expect to laugh among your coworkers after your 2% annual raise that doesn't even cover inflation. * Benefits are a joke, you'll be laughing in pain at the $6850 yearly health insurance deductible. * Zero career path, you will remain at a title of Consultant for 10-20 years, after which you'll be promoted to Senior Consultant with no pay increase. * No training or career advancement opportunities, unless you consider reading ebooks as "training" that you could've Googled from anywhere. * No job security, if your project ends and CGI cannot find you a new project in 3 weeks, you are terminated from the company. Management has assured us that this will not likely happen for most employees, but this has already happened for several employees. * Extremely slow turnaround for new projects, which gives very little chance for employees on the bench to be placed on a new project. I was able to apply for a new job, schedule for three interviews, and receive a new job offer in a shorter timespan than CGI could approve the extension for my EXISTING project. * The morale here is a dead horse that keeps getting beaten every time another employee leaves or is let go, at a rate of 1.5 employees per week. * CGI is a big boat that's slowly sinking, and there aren't enough lifeboats for everyone.

Protect the stock price at all cost

Pros

- Has a relatively nice share purchase program and match with immediate vesting and no wait period to sell - Proximity model means little need to travel for projects for most roles - Executive leadership's exclusive concern with the share price will mean your stock should continue to rise, for a little while at least

Cons

- Recent strict adherance to 0 bench policy has meant there is no job security - Raises and bonuses have been either well below inflation or just plain non-existent - Promotions are not given a boost in pay and/or used in lieu of an actual raise - Mandated use of vacation time at company discretion - Aggressive RTO policy being enacted - Severe lack of training and no dedicated (and compensated) sales force leads to poor execution of growth strategies

Utterly broken culture

Pros

Friendly coworkers who will go out of their way to help one another. Lots of great training options available (provided you do it on your own time)

Cons

The culture of this company is completely, utterly broken. CGI only cares about one thing: billable hours. Anything else is expected to be done on your own time, including attending mandatory company meetings. Even "mandatory" training is expected to be done outside your 40 hours of billable time to a client. And it doesn't matter if you go weeks and weeks billing more than 40 hours to a client, if you even go under 40 hours of billable time for one single week, they get upset. I'm astonished that they even deign to allow you vacation or sick time without expecting you to make up the hours in the same week. On top of all that, the benefits are mediocre, at best. They only offer a high deductible health plan, the dental is worthless, life insurance is terrible, etc. What's more, they "talk" a LOT about diversity and inclusion on one hand, but on the other hand they eagerly take contracts from governments and businesses that are actively working to oppress and take away the rights of women and minorities without a second's hesitation. Because, for all their talk, they only care about profit margins.
