Pros

Good stock option which is totally luck and good timing base to survive till that time

Cons

Broadcom is completely dependent of legacy employees, who hold all the project dependency and no one can survive without their wish as no project documents and hard to grab everything only through source code. The main strategy is to hire new goat to slaughter during layoffs. Hire new resources, don't gave them space to survive, and layoffs the candidate before mature its stock (yearly) and again hire new resource. It is just to make secure legacy employee jobs and stability. Management treat software professionals like a slave and work like a robot. Managers are totally dummy and non technical, non professional and even not able to realized the legacy engineers politics. Here managers are totally just blindly follow the instruction coming from USA and don't have any individual strength. HR is totally worthless, they meant only to make employees day to day life hell. like how to push software professionals to work from office even in covid crisis(where every week around 50-60 employess are infected with corona in office) , no WFH policy as such (it is just to make a fool to external new candidate) Yes good stock option is their but it is just a carrot hanging on the pole in front of goat, just as a part of greedy algorithm to impress new jonnie and which he/she will never get. It is not my individual thoughts, just think 100 times before joining to Broadcom, because once you trapped in this situation, it is really tough to come out from them and find another similar level job.

Pros

Awesome location, great benefits, vibrant history, cutting edge tech

Cons

Hock tan is a vampire who sucked this company dry. 90% of the amazing engineers at this company left or were laid off and now its all about margins, very little rnd, nothing new, and a failed qcom buyout (thank god) hopefully this abomination of a company will die off now that the vampire hock tan couldnt take out qcom and the semi industry is fully consolidated. Don't work for this company if you want to work for a hitech company. This company changed its name and county 3x times in the last 3 years. Broadcom Corp - Brcm limited -> Brcm inc. Why did they keep the brcm name? Because avgo is a company that never did anything ever. They made passive rf front end prodcuts and got financing to leech and acquire better companies and strip them down. The current Broadcom Inc is a Frankenstein or Zombie with no brains to eat. Don't ever work here

Pros

Great coworkers, and colleagues Very sharp team, and focused on execution Immediate management is very capable

Cons

Senior management doesn't care about employees. And with Avago buying us, it will be even worse. For a CTO that is suppose to represent the collective engineering mindset, it's a huge discouragement when in all hands meetings, he repeatedly says we need to review our engineering staff and ensure we "curb engineering inflation. Come on, we're all engineers and not stupid. just say what you mean. You think U.S. employees are paid too much, and you want to reduce our compensation package and shift as much work overseas as possible. Calling this "curbing engineering inflation" is just insulting.
