Pros

Multi-billion dollar company in profits.

Cons

But treats its employees like trash. Most tech companies have great benefits. Broadcom stripped me of my fertility benefits while I was undergoing treatment when it acquired VMware. This meant a hefty unplanned bill for my family. On top of that, they only offer you 10 paid days for parental leave. Your stitches haven't even healed in 2 weeks. Yes you can take FMLA but it's unpaid. The CEO is a billionaire who said if we don't like it work somewhere else. If that is not demonic, what is? Very Machiavellian and outright Satanic. Also, they stopped remote work. It's fine if that's what I agreed to when hired. But many employees were sold on remote only and remote first only to have the rug pulled underneath them.No remote work whatsoever unless you live over 50 miles away. So if you live 50 miles away or 1.5 hour commute each way, Hock Tan doesn't give a damn. He said go work somewhere else. I hope the customers go somewhere else.

What It Was Isn't What It Is Now

Pros

Broadcom Corporation was known for it's innovation and provided great opportunities to work with very intelligent and skilled people. They also understood and supported a good work-life balance, and provided many facilities (including gyms, cafeterias, etc.) that helped with this. The best part was definitely the people...such great people. It's not much of a job when you consider you were working among "family."

Cons

Broadcom Limited, previously Avago, is not the same company. Their interest is purely profit now and do not foster innovation. Instead, their focus is purely profit. When the CEO was asked during an all-hands meeting about company culture, his response was "When I was young and starting out, I didn't care very much about company culture. Now that I'm a CEO, I care even less. We pay you well to do a job, and that's enough." NO thank you.

Goodbye Once Great American-Built Company

Pros

Broadcom (Classic), now Broadcom Limited after the Avago acquisition, was a great place to work as an IT member. Employee-centric programs and onsite benefits rivaled (some) of those at Google. Workload was very heavy, but management was always open to flex schedules and telecommuting, so it balanced out very nicely. My road commute was about an hour in HEAVY traffic, but it was all worth it. Fare thee well Broadcom (Classic).

Cons

Broadcom Limited is now an offshore tech company run by accountants that outsource anything possible in order to maintain shareholder equity. Big picture, as a shareholder, thats what you want. Small picture from the employee perspective (multiplied by the number of employees steamrolled), this is another example of sweatshop politics.
