A dark and sad place to work

Pros

Excellent pay and some nice benefits

Cons

Lack of Union support, relentless calls from angry customers compounded by the fact that they often have to wait on hold for 30 minutes or longer to speak to a customer service rep. A dark cloud and negative energy hangs over this call center.

Pros

great way to travel and see the world

Cons

If you have anything going on in your personal life you are simply a number and they do not provide support. They also have very old contracts that give you minimum rest and awful wage for the hours and strain of the job.

Pros

British Airways is one of the nations favourite brands and we were always proud to wear the uniform. Flying into London Heathrow was an honour I will remember till the day I die. Good salary and benefits.

Cons

Right, here’s where the bitterness is unleashed. I am unable to provide details as my unique situation will allow me to be identified as easily as a morse identifier on a navigation aid. However I must advise my fellow pilots that the training department here is (or was) not fit for purpose. Training sub contracted to third parties who, whilst doing their damned best, struggled to cram so much into the minimum possible time. No sim or instructor or training captain availability meant that he who fell behind got left behind. Office politics sees this framed as the trainees “fault” though avoids explaining how instead placing increasingly arduous hoops to jump through under increased pressure and scrutiny. If BA’s objective was to shred someone’s sanity to ribbons and leave them so shaken they could barely operate a door handle let alone an aircraft they could not do a more refined job. If you are familiar with the term “silo” you will understand the management style in question. Many individuals are great but the system itself is unjust.
