Good job let down by poor junior management culture.

Pros

It's difficult to review this company as it really does depend on where you work. In some areas such as head office it can be the best job in the world, whilst others are deplorable. I felt proud to work for the company as a whole, but absolutely disgusted at some of the treatment of staff in other areas. The main company perk of course is "staff travel," which is promoted to death at the recruitment stage, however once you've been lured into accepting a position it's a different story - the constant mantra being "it's a concession not a right which can be withdrawn at whim." It's also a "use it or loose it" scheme limited to staff & immediate family or one travel partner, unlike some airlines who allow a certain of number of tickets per year which can be transferred to friends. This might not be a problem I hear you cry, however it's difficult to take advantage of in the main due to work obligations & limited availability. Empty seats on popular routes are rare & trying to plan ahead impossible - no good when to get any leave it has to be submitted twelve months ahead to stand a chance of being confirmed.

Cons

I certainly agree with a previous reviewer’s comment about the company consisting of lions lead by donkeys - although the most senior management, whilst being out of touch, are in the main decent human beings. If you're happy to be treat as a five year old & be lead by the "do as I say, not as I do" style of management then this is the job for you.

Pros

Work with some amazing people, travel concessions are okay (though not especially cheap anymore and seem to be given grudgingly- unless you are upper management). Get to see other places.

Cons

Unsociable hours, new "Mixed Fleet" contract is gruelling and pay is very poor. Don't expect to be treated like an adult.
