Pros

The kids are awesome and the other teachers are very nice. The plans for the company are good in theory but when put into effect it is not working.

Cons

Where do I start? The students are bumped from room to room in order for teachers to be in ratio causing students to be in unfamiliar environments where they don't know the expectations and teachers to have to understand the student's behavior on the spot. There are too many students with behavior issues and nothing to be done about them. I've been cursed at, kicked, hit, punched, spit on and broken up more fights than I have ever seen in my life and all these students are still enrolled. If a teacher speaks up then they are repremanded for not being able to handle their classroom. If teachers are out other teachers are sent from their own classrooms where their students have to suffer to cover even if that's not their age group. Subs are rarely called and the ones that come don't want to come back. There is no real teaching happening here, especially in school age. There's no time to do a lesson after school age students finish homework and even if there is the students refuse to sit for it. When students act out management blames it on the teacher even when the problem is staring them right in the face. There is usually one teacher in a room and as long as ratio is being kept there won't be an assistant placed in regardless of any kind of special needs. If there is an emergency teachers have to hope someone is walking by at the right time. Even when classes are out of ratio management stays in the office and let the teachers fend for themselves. Employees, even ones with degrees, get very little pay and the benefits are outrageous. With the money left over teachers are expected to buy their own materials for their classrooms and lessons. Classrooms have very little materials in them and what they do have the students destroy. Students are not allowed to use technology. There are iPads in every classroom and yet students can't use any education apps and the classrooms that do have computers the children are not allowed to use. If students are on educational websites the teachers still get in trouble. Teachers are expected to keep their rooms clean, get their paperwork done, and keep their students supervised. If one of these things doesn't get done the teacher gets in trouble. Management is more worried about keeping the center maintained for state visits than keeping it maintained for their students and staff. They don't care about the children or their employees. They just care about getting stars and money. I came to Brightside to get experience and what I learned is what not to do.

Pros

You get a paycheck every 2 weeks

Cons

Classrooms are always out of ratios, always. There is no respect whatsoever throughout the whole organization If you are not apart of a clique then you are singled out and become a walking target Barely get a lunch break and when you do take one, you are made to feel guilty because once again they are out of ratio No cost of living increase or raises given to the folks that actually work. Raises are only given to corporate staff for a job not well done. Teacher turnaround is high. Here today, gone tomorrow!

Pros

Knowing you are protecting the kids from upper management.

Cons

Corporate staff (CEO, VP's, Area Managers) are a joke. They do not care about the staff or children it's all about the money. We are short staffed all of the time and out of ratio. They do not step in and they ignore requests for help.
