Pros

In my position on the Category Management team I worked closely and cross functionally with many different departments including Merchandising, Marketing, Purchasing, Compliance, ect. Across these teams the manager and specialist level employees are all very happy to work together and work hard to succeed in reaching a common goal. Great team of people to work with! BBCOM's benefits and bonus payouts are better than most.

Cons

Putting it bluntly, there were/are people in leadership roles that do not have a clue how to manage (let alone lead) employees. Most Director level employees and higher are not equipped to be in a leadership role. As most of the other reviews elude to, these individuals are put into these roles based on friendships and a "bro culture". The HR department was receiving their direction from these high level employees, which made these bias hiring and firing practices a reality. When I was working at BBCOM HR was not an advocate for the employee at all, so you have to be very smart to document everything to ensure you are not wrongly accused of anything. Which in some cases doesn't matter as you can see in another review where a loyal employee was let go just after getting a promotion to a different department (I can verify that review is true). I worked there when the founder stepped down as CEO and the first couple of VP's were let go. Since then more VP's and other high level employees no longer work there, which is a huge step in the right direction. Right now there are still some of these high level employees that the company would be better without, but I would recommend this company to someone that is looking for a stepping stone to gather the experience needed to advance their career. It can only get better now that the parent company stepped in and are making the much needed changes.
